Becoming One DVD Resource Kit

According to the Apostle Paul, marriage is a mystery. That doesn’t mean marriage is puzzling or mysterious so much as that marriage has elements that are not readily apparent to us, dimensions that we would not know on our own. Reading the Scriptures, we quickly see that marriage is important to God. In Creation, He designed man and woman for each other and spoke of them leaving father and mother and becoming one. In both covenants, He framed His relationship to His people in marriage terms. Clearly, more is at stake here than that man meets woman, they please each other, the two fall in love, and they live happily ever after.
Marriage is an intimate union, a coming together in oneness at a deeper level than the physical union – a union of soul characterized by understanding, commitment, honor, and faithfulness to the death. God knows that the heart shaped by a faithful marriage union is a heart prepared to stay true to Him, and conversely, a heart misshaped by unfaithfulness is a heart unprepared to believe in Him and follow Him.
Marriage is a mystery. There is much more than meets the eye. And as we look at the subject, we do well to ponder that larger picture. We not only want husbands and wives to experience happiness with one another, but to grow in relationship with God. “Becoming One: Enrichment for Couples” teaches couples how to build joyful, lasting marriages after God’s design.
