La Catracha

Honduran scum. That’s what her stepfather called her. A pitiful orphan plucked from the streets of Honduras, or so her mother claimed. A despised Catracha by birth, struggling to make her way in a Nicaraguan world.
Karla’s love-starved childhood consisted of hard work, poverty, and abuse, and her future looked bleak and sinister. Her pleas for mercy fell on deaf ears – she faced the harsh world alone. Sometimes she knelt by her bed and cried out to God in desperation. But she wasn’t sure if He knew or cared about her.
However, God did know Karla, and the horrors and grief she endured. He saw the rage and bitterness that possessed her. He placed godly influences in her path. When finally she surrendered, He rescued her from her battered past, made her heart His own, and breathed hope and light into her future.
