The stories and poems of Thirty Little Fingers invite you into the world of one wife and mother as she chronicles the mix of love and tears, of labor and grace, by which she and her family live.
Raising children is hilarious, exasperating, and sometimes terrifying; knowing and being known in marriage leads to seasons of delight and to moments of sheer bafflement; expanding one’s circle of friends brings bracing insights and unmatched opportunities for personal humiliation. In this collection the author testifies to all these truths, and to the great truth that gives all the others meaning: the faithfulness of a gracious God.

Chris Miller –
“The unique factors of this book include:
a) Delightful humor and honesty about messiness – rare in Anabaptist writing.
b) Spot-on life values – a trademark of Anabaptist writing, though not always expressed well. Sheila’s are. She is deeply committed to faithful living. She is clean and tactful. She does not shy away from discussing personal matters such as pregnancy and toilet training, but she is never crass or offensive, just joyful and realistic. She is a very conservative Mennonite lady, and has strict scruples of her own.
c) Easy reading for moms in the busy stage. Because it’s a hodge-podge collection of short stories, poems, recipes, and more, a reader can open it to any place and find enjoyment – rather than having to read the whole book sequentially and keep a train of thought, which is sometimes hard for moms of toddlers. That sentence doesn’t make sense even to me, but I myself have a small child saying Mommy Mommy Mommy and I’ll let it go…
d) Some really wonderful poetry, always Sheila’s best work.”
