        • ClassicsThese novels have stood the test of time, impacting generations of readers. We have selected these great works either because they depict what it true, good, and beautiful in a way that captures our imaginations and cultivates our love for the true, good, and beautiful; or because they provide a powerful and clarifying analysis of the human condition. Because they capture our imaginations, good novels can be an important force in cultivating our growth as a whole person. Our lives are not transformed when we merely inform our intellects of truth. Our hearts must also be directed to love what is good, and this is accomplished when our imaginations are captured by depictions of goodness and beauty in stories, whether imaginative or true. Please recognize that these novels are seldom overtly “Christian.” Many of them reflect and contribute to the formation of a Christian worldview, but some are selected simply because they have deeply impacted our culture and help us to understand the society we live in. We try to avoid books that include gratuitous or overly graphic depictions of evil, but any true analysis of the human condition or any realistic account of redemption must reckon with the reality…

Living History

Christian Learning Resource is the distributor for Living History curriculum, a production of Faith Builders Resource Group. Living History Threads harnesses the power of stories to introduce elementary students to the important events and figures from various “threads” of history. Living History Weavings, just released for 5th and 6th grade, continues the story-based approach of Threads with a focus on non-Western regions of the world and an emphasis on building skills for engaging history.

  • Our Commitments and Vision

Christian Learning Resource (CLR) was established in 1998 with a goal of providing high-quality educational materials at low prices to small church schools and homeschoolers. CLR’s founders envisioned CLR growing into a curriculum publisher and comprehensive school services provider, a vision that has grown into reality in Faith Builders Resource Group. As a division of Resource Group, part of CLR’s mission is to distribute and provide support for the curriculum published by Resource Group, but we do much more than that!

We have always made it our mission to identify and distribute books that have lasting value for our customers, rather than just selling the latest bestsellers. We try to identify books that we believe will enrich your life, sharpen your perspective, and encourage growth. Over the years, we have expanded our focus, providing growth-oriented resources for the church, the home, and the individual disciple as well as the school. While our customer base has expanded far beyond K-12 educators, we have never lost our passion to provide the highest quality resources to support learning and growth in all stations and stages of life.

Our 1800-square-foot store is located in the Resource Group building on the campus of Faith Builders Educational Programs, 28527 Guys Mills Rd, Guys Mills, PA. We moved into our new building in March 2023, and our expanded space has enabled us to add to our inventory and improve our store layout to provide a delightful browsing experience. We’d love to have you stop in to browse our book selection and talk to us about our favorites! If you’re looking for peace and quiet, come sit on our porch or by the fireplace to read, study, and relax! We’re open 8:30-5:00 Monday through Friday, and 11:00-1:00 on Saturday.

We are committed to discipleship.

We exist to assist the church, school, and home in discipling people toward humble, joyful, Christ-centered participation in the Kingdom of God. We envision churches, homes, and schools working together to develop people who love God supremely, who are equipped for service and for effective engagement, and who are humble, faithful church members who provide resources for the ministries of the church.

We are Anabaptist.

We have been shaped by our conservative Anabaptist heritage, and we embrace this as a gift. Our primary support base is within the conservative Anabaptist community, and our mission is to provide resources that will enrich this tradition. We also see ourselves as members of the “Great Tradition” of the historical, global church; as such, we often look to other Christian traditions for resources that provide additional perspective on the Christian life and the challenges of faithfulness in the modern world.

We are intentional.

We are committed to distributing resources we believe offer long-term value for God’s people. Most of our books are reviewed by Faith Builders staff and are recommended as “better than average” in their category. We do not base our selection on the lists of the latest bestsellers. Instead, we work to identify those books that are truly valuable and worth reading again and again.
