This rhymed poem tells the story of a little group of candles who are just trying to shine brightly despite the darkness around them. One candle is growing old and fears he’s no longer strong enough to keep shining through the wind and hardships around him. Another candle, a little tea light, grows insecure as she looks at the larger, more beautiful candles around her. Another candle looks at the evil and pain of this world and wonders how him shining his little light could possibly make a difference. As each candle verbalizes their struggle, the others rally around to remind them: When the world is black around you/ And the darkness is all-defining/ Hold onto the light, you will make it through/ Keep shining, friend, keep shining.
