Are some people so mean, cruel, and awful that they’re actually incapable of changing? In this imaginative drama about the story of Zacchaeus, that’s what some of the villagers wonder. Samuel, specifically, who used to play with Zacchaeus when they were children, is bitter and hurt by how his former friend is treating him now. Zacchaeus cheats and misuses people without seeming to give it a second thought. The truth is, though, Zacchaeus is hiding hurts and insecurities of his own. When Jesus comes along, He sees straight into Zacchaeus’s hurting heart and utterly changes his life—much to everyone else’s surprise. This skit shows that when Jesus is in the picture, even the most hardened person is capable of change. There are five optional spoken word poetry pieces inserted throughout that can be added or skipped as desired.
